Business text messaging for El Paso companies

TechBit Solutions enables text messaging on the business number El Paso companies already use, into a shared inbox the team answers from, so nobody hands out a personal mobile.

What this covers

Text messaging from your business number, handled inside the same phone system TechBit Solutions provides. Customers text the number they already have, and your team answers from a computer rather than a personal phone.

Texting from your business number

That last point is the one owners raise most. Once a customer has a member of staff's personal number, that relationship leaves with them, and it is unreachable when they are on holiday.

Who it is for

The rules that apply

Business texting is regulated more tightly than most owners expect, because it grew out of telemarketing law.

We configure opt-out handling and keep the records the platform can keep. We are not the right people to tell you whether your consent process is sound, and we will say so rather than guess.

The problem it solves

People do not answer the phone any more, and they do answer texts. A confirmation that would take three attempted calls takes one message and a reply.

The second problem is the personal-phone habit. Once staff start texting customers from their own handsets, the business has no record of what was agreed, no cover when that person is away, and no way to keep the relationship when they leave.

Texting in Spanish

A large part of El Paso conducts business in Spanish, and text is often the easier channel for it. Somebody who would rather not conduct a phone call in their second language will answer a written message without hesitating.

The system does not care which language you type in. What matters is that whoever is watching the shared inbox can answer in the language the customer used, which is a staffing decision rather than a technical one.

TechBit Solutions delivers support in Spanish, so if you want help thinking through templates and standard replies in both languages, that conversation is available.

What it will not fix

Texting makes you easier to reach. It does not make you faster to answer, and an unanswered text annoys a customer considerably more than an unanswered voicemail, because they can see it was delivered.

So the question to settle before switching it on is who is responsible for the inbox and by when they are expected to reply. If the honest answer is nobody, this will make things worse rather than better.

Getting started

Messaging is part of the phone platform, so for existing clients it is usually a configuration change. The setup conversation is mostly about who watches the inbox.

Questions we get asked

Can we text from our existing office number?

In most cases, yes. We enable the number you already have for messaging, so a customer can text the same number they call. That is the whole point. Your customers should never have to work out which of your numbers accepts which kind of message, and the El Paso businesses we set this up for keep the number already printed on their signage.

Do customers need an app?

No. It lands on their phone as an ordinary text message, the same as one from a friend.

Who sees the replies?

Whoever you decide. Messages to a business number can land in a shared inbox that several people watch instead of on one person's handset, so nothing sits unanswered because somebody is out sick or on vacation.

Can we send appointment reminders automatically?

That depends on what your scheduling system can hand over. Tell us what you use and we will give you a straight answer on whether it will connect or whether somebody would be sending them by hand. We would rather tell you no early than discover it halfway through.

Are there rules about texting customers?

Yes, and they have real teeth. Consent, opt-out handling and timing are all regulated, and the penalties are counted per message. We will configure opt-out handling properly on our side. Whether your consent process holds up is a conversation for your attorney, and we will tell you when we think you need to have it.
