Call recording for El Paso businesses

TechBit Solutions sets up call recording for El Paso businesses, stores the recordings in the platform rather than on an office PC, and controls who can listen to what.

What this covers

Call recording captures your business calls and keeps them somewhere you can find them again. TechBit Solutions sets it up as part of the phone system, decides with you what gets recorded, and makes sure the people who need access have it and nobody else does.

How recordings are stored and found

Who needs it

Consent and the law

Texas is a one-party consent state, so one participant needs to be aware of the recording. That is the short version and it is not advice.

Two practical points. First, your callers are not always in Texas, and some states require every party to consent, so an announcement is the safe habit rather than a formality. Second, if a recording is ever going to be used in a dispute, the announcement is what stops the argument being about the recording instead of the content.

We will configure whatever your attorney tells you to configure. What we will not do is tell you what the rules are for your business.

The problem it solves

Almost every phone dispute is two people remembering the same conversation differently, both honestly. Without a recording it becomes a question of who is more insistent.

The everyday value is smaller and more constant: somebody takes an order, mishears a quantity, and the recording settles it before it becomes a credit note and a lost customer.

Card numbers and other things you should not capture

If your staff take payment over the phone, a recording that runs continuously is capturing card numbers, and that puts a copy of cardholder data somewhere you now have to protect.

The usual answer is a pause: the person taking the payment stops the recording for the few seconds it takes, then resumes. It is one button and it keeps the sensitive part out of storage entirely.

The same thinking applies to anything else you would rather not hold. A medical practice, a law firm and a collections business each have a different line, and we set it where you tell us. See compliance support if you are not sure where yours is.

Getting started

Recording is part of the phone system. The setup conversation is mostly about what to record and who may listen, which takes about twenty minutes.

Questions we get asked

Do we have to tell callers they are being recorded?

Texas is a one-party consent state, which means one participant in the call needs to know. In practice almost every business announces it anyway, because your callers may be sitting in another state and because the announcement protects you if a recording is ever disputed. We will not advise you on your own legal position; that belongs with your attorney.

Can staff turn recording off?

That depends how we configure it, and it is worth deciding on purpose rather than by default. Some businesses record everything. Others want a pause so a customer can read out a card number without it being captured. We will walk you through both and you choose.

Where are the recordings kept?

In the platform, not on a machine in your office, and reachable only by the people you authorize. Ask us about retention when we scope it. How long you keep them is partly your call and partly what your industry expects, and it is far easier to set correctly at the start than to fix later.

Can we find one specific call?

Yes, by date, time, extension or the number involved. If you need to search by what was said rather than by who said it, that is speech analytics, and we will point you there rather than overselling this.

Is this only for call centers?

Not at all. Some of the businesses that get the most out of it are El Paso offices with one disputed conversation a year, where pulling up the recording settles the whole thing in five minutes instead of five weeks.
